Autism Awareness Month!

Below is a listing of planned activities, events and presentations (as of 4/16/18) during April 2018 – Autism Awareness Month! Throughout this month, HCAS will be out in the community, with presentations, awareness-building events, mini-fundraisers, and trainings.  If you know of a business, civic organization, school or other group who would like to host an event for us or invite one of our speakers to present at a meeting, please contact the HCAS office at 410-290-3466 or email melissa.rosenberg@howard-autism.org.

April – Fundraiser by Chesapeake Heirlooms and Careen Wallace.  She will donate 15% of gross sales this month to HCAS!  CLICK to shop!

April – Fundraiser by Stella Notte.  Stella Notte has been kind enough to offer a drink special for the ENTIRE month of April in recognition of Autism Awareness month. All proceeds from the Blue Raspberry Lemonade will be donated to HCAS! Come on out for some GREAT food and awesome drinks at 8809 Baltimore National Pike Ellicott City, MD 21043

April – Fundraiser by Brandon Dean Childcare.  In honor of Autism Awareness Month, Brandon Dean will personally donate $20 to HCAS for every job he has in the month of April!  Call to schedule at (240) 821-7125.

April –  Fundraiser by Stella & Dot who for 6 years has partnered with the HollyRod Foundation which provides compassionate care to those who have Autism and their families.  Stella & Dot has designed a bracelet called ‘unity’ to promote Autism Awareness.  All proceeds from this bracelet will benefit the HollyRod Foundation.  In the last few years Stella & Dot has given over $515,000 to the foundation and are hoping to make an even greater impact this year.  A shopping link has been opened by a local stylist, Denise Berger, to benefit the Autism Society of Howard County. April 2nd – AUTISM AWARENESS DAY!

April 3rd – Presentation on Supported Decision-Making, 7-9pm at HCAS (in partnership with Arc of Howard County and Humanim)

April 4th – Presentation at Dayton Oaks Elementary School (am) for all grades

April 8th – What Autism Looks Like.  Presentation for Oak Ridge Community Church, 1-3pm, The Gathering Place 6120 Day Long Lane, Clarksville, MD 21029

April 10th – Veteran Resource Fair @ No. Laurel Community Center from 5:00-8:0pm (Look for the HCAS Table!)

April 11th – Lunch & Learn at Army LabCom in Adelphi, MD

April 11th – Autism Lecture by Dr. Rebecca Landa from KKI (Applied Physics Lab/Parsons) – 1:00pm

April 12th – Asperger’s Family Support Group at HCAS, 7:30-9:00pm

April 14th – Honestly Autism Day – Baltimore Chesapeake Autism Society, Timonium, MD (Look for the HCAS Table!)

April 16th – April Speaker Series: You’re Child’s Been Diagnosed With Autism.  What’s Next? (with Parent Panel at HCAS, 7pm)

April 17th – Autism 101 presentation at Howard County Library, Miller Branch, 7pm

April 18th – Lunch & Learn at Army LabCom in Aberdeen, MD

April 19th – Presentation at Laurel Woods Elementary School in Laurel, MD

April 20th – Ability Awareness Event at Elkridge Landing Middle School

April 21st – HCAS Volunteer/Social Corps volunteers at Howard Conservancy, 10am-1pm for Tadpole Release & Tree Planting

April 21st – HCAS Table at the Special Olympics Maryland Howard County 17th Annual Inspiration Walk, Centennial Park
