The Rapid Return Program sponsored by the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) has been discontinued
The Rapid Return tracking program began in 2011 with the EMFinders device, which replaced the original Project Lifesaver device. Unfortunately, EMFinders ceased operations and the county was left without a replacement. Several devices were tested before settling on the Trackimo device. Through parts of 2014 and 2015, the Trackimo device was piloted with interested families. Although found to be effective for tracking by HCPD, the units did not have a secure wristband and were not used frequently by the piloting families.
With the availability of various tracking devices that families can monitor on their smartphones and computers, we advise families to find a device best suited to their needs. Should an incident occur, families can provide dispatchers with the necessary tracking information to better assist in the search.
For families that would like more information on Trackimo, we encourage them to visit the website at www.trackimo.com, or contact the HCPD.
